Overview
The Mike Finney Design and Technology Consultancy is led by Mike Finney, an experienced Design and Technology teacher with over 35 years of experience as both a teacher and Head of Department. Mike is known to many teachers as an author and editor of the Collins Technology series of textbooks.
Mike has run CPD courses for teachers for many years in all aspects of Design and Technology including CADCAM.
He is a D & T Association accredited trainer for ProDesktop and Creo Elements/Pro (formerly known as ProEngineer) and runs the East Midlands Digital D&T Support Centre.
Mike is also a D & T Association Consultant member , a member of N.A.A.I.D.T. and a registered design and technology health and safety consultant (RDTHSC).
The consultancy draws on local specialists to provide a full range of support for Design and Technology across the secondary curriculum from planning to delivery in the classroom.
We are able to offer a full range of services to schools including:
- training and support for all aspects of Digital DT both through the East Midlands Digital DT Support Centre programme and on an individual basis to schools.
- support and advice across a range of courses including:
- GCE and GCSE Product Design;
- GCSE Electronic Products and Systems & Control;
- GCSE Graphic Products;
- GCSE Resistant Materials;
- Entry Level Awards;
- BTEC Engineering and Manufacturing.
- health & safety advice to ensure conformity with BS 4163:2007 including teacher accreditation and training to the Nation Standards.
- advice on room design and layouts, furniture, equipment and ICT/CADCAM requirements.
- bespoke CPD tailored to the needs of individual schools.
As STEM Ambassadors we are able to provide support for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths related activities.
